Dear Readers:
I'm not a movie reviewer, but I recently I saw a movie I would certainly recommend. It's funny, it's sad, it's quirky, and it's certainly entertaining! It's the first film by Elliot Greenebaum and I'll include two Email's I received from Elliot below, one before the opening in Connecticut, and one I received in the evening after seeing the film.
I viewed the trailer and convinced my wife Nancy that we should make the trip to New Haven to see Assisted Living. It showed five times a day and Elliot was there after each session for two days to talk to the crowd who had come to see his film. He is quite a creative young man and it is a remarkable film.
His two Emails are below. The trailer is pretty funny, but the film goes much deeper into aging and life toward the end of life. Let me know if you like it.
Sincerely,
Chauncy
PS: Since I've already admited that I don't have any movie reviewer credentials,
I think it's ok for me to add that I think Million Dollar Baby has some of the
best acting I've ever seen!

I know some of you have received emails about "Assisted Living" in
the past and might be annoyed by now, but this is my feature film debut and
I'm excited and terrified and desperately hope that you or someone you know
will attend the premiere this week. We opened Wednesday at the Angelika Theater
in Manhattan and this past Friday in Washington DC. Then over the next two weeks
throughout Kentucky where "Assisted Living" was shot. This is a very,
very independent film meaning we have a very, very small budget for advertising.
Thus the emails.|
(Here are links to the schedule of openings and to the trailer: http://www.assistedlivingthemovie.com/PlayDates.htm

)
If you want to know what people other than myself think of the movie, please
read on below. (Note: I left out what others thought, but they were all positive
comments) If you don't care, and I can't blame you, I still hope you'll see
the movie this week. Otherwise, there's not likely to be a second week.
Anyway, thanks for listening and please forward this to folks who you think
might be interested.
Sincerely, Elliot Greenebaum, director and writer of "Assisted Living"

Subject: Assisted Living. The Little Film That Could (With your help!!)
Date: February 12, 2005 5:32:27 PM EST
To: chauncy@connsensebulletin.com (and all the others that were there when we
were)
Thank you again for coming (and staying) to talk with me about the
film.
"Assisted Living" was the highest grossing film at the Criterion Theater
on it's opening day! ...(which is pretty good considering that nobody seems
to know about the Criterion Theater).
It would be very helpful if you sent this poster (below) and trailer http://www.assistedlivingthemovie.com/Trailer.htm to
any groups in New York or New Haven. Please urge folks to see the
film this weekend if they can (and to bring others).
In New York the film is playing at the Angelika Film Center.
Thank you so much; your help is all the advertising I have.
Sincerely,
Elliot Greenebaum
