I have been a member of the QIAT list for about two years, mostly as a lurker. The daily message flow has been immensely valuable as I pursue my "late-in-life" Ed.D. degree in which I am focusing on the accommodation needs of persons with disabilities. I used some of the correspondence as the basis for an assignment I gave my students when I taught a graduate seminar in 2004 on assistive technology for secondary schools and workplace settings.
I reached a major milestone in my life this year, with a decision to pursue a cochlear implant as the next step in dealing with my lifelong progressive, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. One of my nearly deaf friends suggested I keep a journal, and I did. Joy Zabala who has read a preliminary draft, suggested that the QIAT list members might be interested. When I did that, Chauncy Rucker told me he thought ConnSENSE Bulletin readers would also be interested.
So I am sending along the appropriate link on my Web site, for those who are intersted.
