| Editor's Note: Ken Kurlycheck has run a very successful software evaluation project, Software to Go (STG) for many years. I always felt his was one of the very best evaluation procedures in America. Sounds like he has another great idea for us now. C. R. |
Pre-College National Mission Programs is happy to announce the grand opening
of our new Software to Go (STG) Web-based, interactive database.
http://pcnmpdb.gallaudet.edu/stg/index.html
Some of you may remember the previous STG project that served as a software
lending library and clearinghouse for schools and programs for deaf and hard
of hearing learners. Well, we've dropped the lending library aspect but updated
the clearinghouse concept for the new millennium. To be effective however, STG
needs YOUR input.
* PURPOSE
The idea behind this database is simple -- if you know of any good, commercially
available software that you think is useful for deaf and hard of hearing students,
we'd like to help you share that information with the world.
* HOW TO ENTER DATA
Before you start entering your data, you should first read over the introductory
information located at
http://pcnmpdb.gallaudet.edu/stg/intro.html
and you must complete an online registration form.
http://pcnmpdb.gallaudet.edu/stg/registration.html
After that, anytime you connect to the STG database, you will log-in with the
name and password you provided on the registration form and then jump automatically
to the Data Entry Form.
To avoid duplications we recommend you do a title search to see if the software
has already been reviewed. If so, you can still add your comments to that review.
At this time, there are only a handful of titles in the database so chances
are that the software you want to review will not be there yet. Help us build
the number of titles reviewed!
