Press Release
Wooster, OH: Prentke Romich Company (PRC), the leading manufacturer of augmentative
and alternative communication (AAC) devices for individuals with speech
disabilities, today announced the release of SpringBoard? Lite, a smaller,
lighter, and easier-to-operate version of its popular SpringBoard speech
output device.
Available in five bold colors, SpringBoard Lite measures just 7.3 square,
weighs less than three pounds, and is priced at $2,195. Its simplified operating
system makes it easy to use right out of the box, while 4-, 8-, 15-, and
32-location display options enable communication capacity to grow with the
user's abilities.
Additional features designed for children and those new to AAC include:
· Brighter, high-quality TFT display screen and improved graphics;
· Interactive "Visual Scenes" pages that enhance language learning;
· Built-in player for importing WAV files and playing MP3 files in
stereo;
· PRC's proprietary Unity® vocabulary software for maximum communication
potential;
· A bilingual Spanish/English version for Spanish-speaking users.
As part of the introduction of its new SpringBoard Lite, PRC is donating
a free device. Those registering online at www.prentrom.com/SBLitegiveaway
by February 29, 2008 will be entered in a drawing for a free SpringBoard
Lite in their choice of color. PRC will be demonstrating the device at the
ATIA Conference January 30-February 2 in Orlando and at the CSUN Conference
March 10-15 in Los Angeles.
"PRC is committed to continuing to provide dedicated AAC devices such
as SpringBoard Lite for those who are eager to communicate but hindered
by congenital or acquired disabilities," stated PRC President David
L. Moffatt. In many cases, a dedicated device will be more appropriate for
the capabilities of the client, simpler to operate and support, and more
cost-effective. We see a tremendous need for entry-level communication aids
that are easy to use, affordably priced, and lead the client to more functional
communication. SpringBoard Lite is the ideal solution.
