CTG Resources II

R. J. Cooper

Hi again,

Here's #2, as promised ;-) It's pretty detailed (my apologies).

First off, in my last piece, I accidentally put *my* email address, rather than Robert's at EyeTech. His is <info@eyetechds.com>. And he *does* have a rental program and a 30 day money-back guarantee :) OK, on to *my* stuff...

In delegating my work time, I, with your help, have to decide what projects to prioritize. It's tough when I'm the only one doing the research, development, coding (many times), packaging, and finally the marketing (which is simply where I use it or tell you about it).

I have the following projects on my 'plate', and I would *love* it if you tell me which ones you would be the most interested in, and if you would even be a beta tester for that project. Important: I am not asking you to obligate yourself to 'buy' anything! I'm just asking for *feedback* :)

1) Remind Me! - A program that runs 'behind' any application (like a word processor, or browser, or email program), and if the user perserverates (spaces out) for a specified period of time, a large character tears through that screen and reminds the learner to get back to work (tactfully, of course ;-). We will probably also have the option to have the character appear to remind the user of appointments/dates also.

2) Flopper Stopper - an U-shaped plastic attachment to our Magic Arm, that fits under a head-flopper's chin. The arm is attached to a wheelchair rail. A small button is placed at the bottom center of the U. The U is positioned so as cradle the user's chin and prevent the his/her head from getting to the point where gravity pulls his/her head down. It does *not* support him/her. What happens is...he/she get instant head control, with his/her head now on top of his/her neck (I like about a 15 degree wheelchair tilt back also). We *know* he/she can now 'hit' the switch. The question is...will he/she stay *off* the switch, and only use it selectively? The answer is "yes" almost everytime. It's quite astounding. I need to know who is interested, and who might help.

3) PalmSense - I am considering marketing "PalmHelper," which consists of a color Palm (palm computer) and special software for specific purposes. The first, PalmCents, which is already developed, is a money program, which helps the user a) count their money; b) decide if they have enough for purchases; c) count their change. It's very cool. And the palm is light and *truly* portable. A second program that I am considering for the PalmSense is what I call "The Right Time, Right Place" program, and maybe call it PalmTime. When I was doing 'research' at the Utah State Training Center in the early 80's, I remember that we had three things we were trying to have the residents remember: 1) Where to go; 2) When to go; 3) What to do when you got there. The Right Time, Right Place program would give auditory visual prompts to go somewhere at a specified time. When the user got there, they would touch the screen and be prompted as to what they should do now. And so on, throug! hout the day. I need to know if this would be something of interest to you (cost for the Palm itself and one of the programs installed will be in the $300 neighborhood), and who could help.

There are more but those are the 'biggies' (no pun intended ;-). *Please* help me to help others.

Thanks!

RJ
