Teacher Central Revolutionizes the Way Educators Teach

Teacher Central is the hub that enables educators to direct all students' reading and writing development across the curriculum.  Educators manage classroom content, apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) options to diversify the delivery of information and set appropriate scaffolds, and analyze critical data to monitor and report progress.

Content Management

When Content Management-the first of four distinct views-is selected, educators have access to libraries of Assignment Templates, Pictures, Outline Templates and eText Files.  Educators can utilize and customize the assortment of assignments and templates provided, or create their own.  Individualized assignments can be disseminated to a single student, or groups of students.

Student Documents

Within the Student Documents view, students' works-in-progress can be monitored.  Educators have an opportunity to "virtual conference" with students by making comments, adding locked text and altering content as needed, to keep students moving through long-term projects.

Student Preferences

In the Student Preferences view, UDL options allow you to make global changes that create a completely customized learning environment for each student.  These preferences are set once, and are evident every time a student works within SOLO.  Further, educators can activate Test Mode, an option that allows students to utilize Write:OutLoud - SOLO's Talking Word Processor - without certain supports during standardized tests.

Student Progress

To monitor progress and analyze writing data, educators can select the Student Progress view.  After selecting a student from the class list, educators can choose to analyze a single writing sample, or compare several writing samples to review progress over time. Data collected includes:

Productivity

Word Usage

As this four-part series comes to a close, we trust you have a better understanding of SOLO's incomparable supports and considerate environment.  SOLO will empower all your students to become independent thinkers, readers and writers!
