National Center for Learning Disabilities Makes Website Content Talk

In keeping with the vision of making its website accessible to all, the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) recently announced another step towards reaching their goal. The organization has enhanced the delivery of website content by making it speech enabled with the addition of Browsealoud Windows software which eases the navigation of the website by reading the website content to the user. Those who browse the site can choose to modify the voice, pitch and speed, making the browsing of content more accessible and meaningful to anyone with reading disabilities, or those for whom English is not their first language.

"The organization is working hard to authoritative information to help millions of children and adults living with learning disabilities. "Browsealoud takes us one step further in delivering a website that is accessible to all" says Amber Eden, Assistant Director of Online Communications.

Mark McCusker, CEO Texthelp Systems, says, "Browsealoud is designed to empower those with reading difficulties by providing enhanced website content delivery to the user. We are delighted to provide assistance to NCLD, in making their website content speech enabled."

To explore this technology, go to the NCLD web site

In the lower left corner of the home page select the Browsealoud icon "Read this site aloud." After indicating your country you are lead to the home page of Texthelp Systems Ltd. In the upper right corner of this page select "Download Browsealoud." I'm told that when you download Browsealoud you are then able to have the NCLD web site read aloud to you. Try it and let me know how you like it. ( C. Rucker)
