CEC Advocacy Toolkit Now Online
CEC has released its August Advocacy Toolkit to help its members urge their elected officials in Congress to increase funding for IDEA, Javits grants for gifted and talented students, and education in general, when Congress votes on education-funding legislation in September. The Toolkit is designed to assist CEC members in contacting and meeting with members of Congress while they are at home during their August 2005 recess, and provides all the materials needed to effectively communicate CEC's message to elected officials and the local media. You can find the Toolkit on CEC's Web site at http://www.cec.sped.org/pp/pdfs/august_advocacy_toolkit_v2.pdf.
In addition, email your member of Congress on the latest issues facing students with disabilities and/or giftedness in only minutes by using the CEC’s online Legislative Action Center! Just visit http://capwiz.com/cek/home/ to email your member of Congress by personalizing a letter CEC has already written.
